Dr. Danai Tiwawech

Dr. Danai Tiwawech received his Ph.D. (Biological Sciences) from the Department of Biological Sciences, Graduate School of Science, University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan.

He is an expert medical scientist known for his work in cancer research at the Medical Biomarkers Development Section, Research and Technology Assessment Division, National Cancer Institute (NCI), Bangkok, Thailand. Today, Dr. Danai is retired but still working as a research consultant for the Thai National Cancer Institute (NCI).

His fields of specialization includes:

  1. Sero-immunodiagnostic of tumor markers for early detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of cancers
  2. Chemical carcinogenesis and chemoprevention in cell cultures and experimental animals
  3. Molecular biology of human cancer such as detection of potential genetic and epigenetic risk factors for cancer development by using the PCR, PCR-RFLP and real-time PCR technique as well as investigation of the new proteome patterns for cancer diagnosis in cancer patients by using the MALDI-TOF/TOF MS.

Dr. Danai has published 76 articles in cancer research and won 3 best poster presentation awards in genetics, carcinogenesis, and toxicology. Most of his recent studies are focus on genomics, proteomics, and cancer stem cell markers that useful for early-stage cancer prevention and detection in the high-risk population.
